Philosophy
Custom Solutions
Seiler’s investment philosophy recognizes that each individual or family has a unique set of circumstances. These factors include your current financial situation (wealth, current and expected future income, professional goals, age, desired retirement, family size and structure, charitable giving, and estate concerns) as well as your investment objectives (income only, growth and income, or growth only), your time horizon (when you will need the money) and risk tolerance (conservative, moderate or aggressive). Therefore, investing for the long-term requires custom solutions. After working with you to understand where you are and where you want to go, we design an investment portfolio that meets your needs.
Investing
Our investing philosophy emphasizes a balanced approach to investing whereby asset classes with low correlations and different risk/return profiles are combined to lower the portfolio’s volatility and enhance returns. Our diversification is beyond just global investing among different industry sectors, as we are diversified among the risk-return dimensions of size and book value as well. The diversification that comes with our strategy has clearly been a good friend to current clients in both good and bad markets. We believe in the efficient-market hypothesis which maintains that security prices reflect the collective wisdom of all the participants in a market; that diversification is key, risk and return are related, capitalism works and portfolio structure explains performance. We do not believe in active management that focuses on stock picking, and market timing which causes excessive turnover, is costly, tax inefficient, and rarely beats the market. We do not “chase” returns.
Maximize Returns / Low Costs
We believe that the market works for us and our clients, and we therefore work to maximize your returns by maintaining the asset allocation that is right for your situation. We work to minimize trading in your account, thus minimizing commissions and taxes, thus providing you with the most cost-efficient portfolio management.
Fee Only
“Fee-only” simply means that an adviser’s compensation is received from the client, and not from product sales commissions. Because we are independent and fee-only, we are always able to give you objective financial advice, free of the conflict of interest of recommending a course of action that might not be in your best interest simply because we are looking for a fast sales commission. As an adviser, our interests are aligned with yours.
